Shakti’s Nutrition interventions

The Shakti Organisation (SSCSO) boasts an extensive track record in addressing critical nutrition issues, having amassed two decades of invaluable experience in the implementation of Integrated Nutrition Programmes. Here is a concise overview of some of Shakti Organisation's key initiatives:

1. Integrated Nutrition and Health Programme (INHP): Shakti Organisation, in collaboration with CARE International, undertook the execution of the Integrated Nutrition and Health Programme (INHP) across the entirety of Rayagada District, Odisha. This initiative spanned from April 2002 to December 2009, reaching 1071 Anganwadi centres and villages.

2. Surakshya - A Boost to IYCF: With support from OVHA and UNICEF, Shakti Organisation initiated the Surakshya program to enhance Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices. This comprehensive effort covered the entirety of Rayagada District in Odisha, collaborating closely with the ICDS and Health department. The program commenced in April 2011 and concluded in March 2013.

3. Shaktivarta - Empowering Women: In partnership with IPE Global (Donor: UK Aid) and the Women & Child Development Department, Shakti Organisation executed the Shaktivarta program. This initiative aimed to empower women through participatory learning and action in areas encompassing health, nutrition, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices. SSCSO's coverage extended across the entire Rayagada District, involving 1979 Shaktivarta points, commencing from Dec.2013 and concluded in March 2015.

4. OPELIP - Odisha PVTG Empowerment and Livelihoods Improvement Programme: Under the Odisha PVTG Empowerment and Livelihoods Improvement Programme (OPELIP), Shakti Organisation has been diligently attending to the needs of malnourished children, offering specialized nutrition and related interventions to the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG), including Lanjia Soura and Dangaria Kandha, in the Gunupur and Muniguda Blocks of Rayagada District, Odisha. This vital program was initiated in 2020 and continues to provide essential support.
